November 15th Blog Jaret Corwin

I was reading the theology of the body book and it talking about self-image and how you see yourself. In health class I was also assigned to see how the media portrays beauty to people and those can tie together in a way. Seeing all those people with fancy cars and clothing they want you to think that if you do what they do you'll have whatever they have. It's distorts our self-image by thinking we need to change ourselves to "fit in" they want us to be the person that we would never usually be which is portrayed as "cool". It also makes you feel "happy" to follow everyone else which is totally wrong because why would you be happy living basically the same way someone else does don't you want to be different.

Jaret Corwin Impact Blog

I was told to attend a mass and tell what my experiences were so here they are. It was great going to one because I haven't been to one in a while because I've been caught up in sports which should've been no excuse. It was a great experience because it is almost like the all school masses just not as many people which makes it a little more comfortable. The people around always seem friendly at Hoban so that makes it a lot more relaxing and makes you open up more. Also mass and church has had an effect on me to make me feel closer to god and has helped me through some tough times I have experience. You see it as just going to a place for an hour or so but when you actually go it's a lot different than you expect it to be. It's a great thing and I hope to experience the same in the school mass on Friday.
